Our judicial system recognizes that judges, like anyone, make mistakes. To deal with judicial mistakes, we have the right to appeal decisions, which we think were wrongly decided against us, to new panel of judges. These judges review cases with fresh eyes and the authority to reverse mistaken decisions. Our appellate attorneys understand the substantive legal issues of your case, from complex business disputes to someone slipping and falling on your sidewalk. But just as importantly, maybe more importantly, we understand the workings of the appellate process. We know how to review the factual record, evaluate whether there is a substantial argument that your case was wrongly decided and, if so, how to best prepare and present compelling written and oral arguments to the appellate judges that they should rule in your favor. We understand that these judges, in addition to your specific case, are concerned with how their rulings will affect public policy and influence the resolution of future cases. We tailor our arguments with these broader institutional concerns in mind. We also pay particular attention to the prior opinions of the specific judges hearing your case and, whenever possible, craft our arguments using concepts, policy concerns, analyses and legal authorities on which these judges have already expressed an affinity.
