Justin W. Van Houten, Esq., joined Catania Mahon & Rider, PLLC in 2021 and is member of CM&R’s Construction and Commercial Litigation Practice Groups.
Prior to entering the legal profession, Justin spent several years working as an apprentice carpenter and assistant project manager in the Mid-Hudson Valley and Capital Region, which provides him a fundamental understanding of the complex issues that his clients face daily. By addressing and focusing on the practical needs of his clients, he advises them on strategic decision making to mitigate disputes at their onset to reduce the need for litigation.
Justin has extensive experience representing general contractors, construction managers and subcontractors on a wide range of issues that arise throughout the construction process—from contract review and negotiation to developing and litigating claims and complex commercial disputes.
Justin has been selected among the Super Lawyers® Rising Stars each year since 2017. He received his Bachelor of Science in Management, with a concentration in Entrepreneurship and Emerging Enterprises, from Syracuse University, where played on the men’s varsity soccer team. Justin received his law degree cum laude in 2014 from Albany law School, where he interned with the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY) and General Electric Company.
Prior to joining CM&R, Justin was a Senior Associate with Peckar & Abramson, P.C.
